Nailed It

I love nail polish; I never get bored of changing the colour of my nails. From midnight black to graffiti glitter they have been every shade of the rainbow at one point or another. The only thing that I hate about polish is that I can spend an hour painting my nails and then chip them mere hours later. And so I was delighted when what seemed like perfect solution landed on my doorstep: the imPRESS Press On Manicure.

I have never experimented with false nails before and so wasn’t sure what to expect. However these nails, which consisted of vibrant red and complementing black and white polka dot shades, that I instantly fell in love with, could not have been easier to apply. All you have to do us wash your hands, wipe your nails with the prep pad, which removes substances such as oil that can prevent the false nails from adhering properly, then pull off the backing from each nail and stick them over your natural nails. Within minutes you are left with a stunning manicure. After leaving them the recommended hour to ensure they were completely stuck on, I then filed them slightly to ensure there were no rough edges.

Before

After

I imagined wearing false nails would feel quite odd and that I would be constantly aware of them, however this particular set is incredibly comfortable and I soon forgot they weren’t my natural nails. Whilst the packaging doesn’t recommend wearing longer than seven days, I would definitely use the ImPRESS Press On Manicure again as it is a quick, easy and durable solution for bold and beautiful, long lasting chip free nails. I am three days in and they look just as good as when I put them on – I’m absolutely delighted.

ImPRESS Nails will be launched exclusively into Superdrug from 26 July.

Treat Your Feet

Prosecco and pamper

I neglect my feet. I put them through a lot: walking to work, standing at concerts, dancing at … well everywhere, not to mention clumsily stubbing toes, kicking curbs and dropping things on them. So for my birthday a few months back I was delighted when my wee bro, Alan, bought me a voucher for a pedicure at Bronze Tanning & Beauty, on the Castlereagh Road in Belfast.

After lots of standing at Tennents Vital on Thursday, last night seemed the ideal time to redeem my voucher. As my sister is a regular at this salon, she also booked in for a treatment,  so we made a bit of a sisters’ pamper evening out of it.

My therapist for the pedicure was the lovely Nichola who was so welcoming, friendly and professional. After getting me settled, with a glass of chilled Prosecco might I add, it was time to unwind. The first step to beautiful feet was a softening soak in Bronze’s amazing massaging pedicure chair. Whilst I got all the knots out of my back Nichola applied a scrub to my feet before getting me to soak them once more. Next was a foot massage with soothing moisturiser; I know it’s not for everyone but I adore having my feet massaged and in Nichola’s expert hands, this was by far my favourite part of the treatment. After feeling totally blissed out, it was time to shape and polish my toe nails: I picked a dark glittery blue which shimmers beautifully when it catches the light. The final step was to wait for the polish to dry whilst finishing my Prosecco.

After an hour of pure relaxation my treatment was complete. My feet felt super soft, my toenails looked fab and I felt so chilled. I will definitely be back to Bronze next time I decide to treat my feet – not only are the staff fantastic, but I need that massage chair in my life! This really was the perfect start to my weekend.

The final result of my pedicure – and sorry about the close up of my feet!

Sparkle and Shine

My mum has always said I am like a magpie; I adore anything that sparkles. Whenever I pass a jewellers, my attention is automatically snared by the glinting pieces in the window and so when I visited the new flagship Pandora store at Cornmarket, Belfast, for its official opening, I was in heaven.

On arrival I was offered a delicious gin cocktail before I checked out the store, which is stunning and incredibly spacious, whilst the chic white interior is the perfect backdrop to let the Pandora collections do all the talking.

I did a lap of all the display cases and then had to do another; there was so much I fell in love with. From stunning necklaces and pendants, the signature charm bracelets, statement and stacking rings and delicate earrings, there is something for every one and for every budget.

The staff are also a delight. I was advised by the assistant manager, who was exceptionally passionate about the product and took the time to take me through the different collections before allowing me a closer look at anything that caught my eye. I really could have spent all day perusing the stunning jewellery on offer but I eventually decided it was time to call it a day – well, not before I treated myself to the Alluring Brilliant Marquise Ring! It’s so pretty, I am definitely over the moon with my purchase.

Pandora Belfast is the perfect spot to find a special treat, either for yourself or a loved one. Until 31 July the store is offering customers who buy two rings, a third free, and so there is no better time to check it out. If rings aren’t your thing, Belfast’s flagship Pandora store is also marking it’s official opening by offering the first lucky 100 customers on Saturday (30 July), a FREE sterling silver bracelet. Time to form an orderly queue ladies and gentlemen!

My Alluring Brilliant Marquise Ring

Shake Up Your Make Up

I am a sucker for a good lippy. If I ever need a pick me up, it’s off to my nearest make up counter to sample the latest shades in stock. A new hue really does make you feel like a new you.

Today my ‘work wife’ Bronagh and I were very lucky to attend the launch of LA based make up collection, Lime Crime, at multi award winning make up artist Paddy McGurgan’s Belfast store. The super talented Paddy is the only official stockist of this collection in the whole of Ireland.

When we arrived, the store was bustling with ladies drooling over the vibrant and fun shades from Lime Crime’s new Velvetines range. I must admit I fell in love with so many, from the edgy ‘Cement’ and the bold ‘Jinx’ to the always classy ‘Red Velvet’. I sampled that many, the back of my hand resembles a fabulous rainbow! However after a very long debate with myself, I eventually asked Paddy’s recommendation, and settled on the very gorgeous and vibrant ‘Beet It’.

As if a new lip colour wasn’t enough, we were also spoilt with a generous goodie bag including a professional make up brush and eye glitter from Paddy’s own make up collection as well as a Mario Badescu cucumber cream soap!

As we departed in to the rainy night, I had a smile on my face, which will look so much more glam when I have it painted with my new Lime Crime Velvetines lip colour!

The exquisite Lime Crime make up collection is available in Paddy McGurgan’s three flagship stores in Belfast, Newry and Londonderry. http://www.paddymcgurganartist.com

I had another surprise treat this week when I received a jam packed beauty bag from Lidl. Celebrating the launch of the new Cien cosmetic line, which is available in store today, this is the ultimate budget range to make your summer stylish.

Inside my wonderfully personalised make up bag (I am still tickled pink with the fact I have a personalised item, with my name spelt right, after years resigning myself to ‘Kelly’ emblazoned on everything from pens to Coke tins), was an amazing array of beauty products and travel minis. I am very excited to try the Cien BB Cream, which is a purse friendly £2.49! The Cien eyeshadows, lip glosses and lipsticks are available in pretty shades that will take you from looking glam by the pool to sultry at night, whilst the travel minis, which include a toothpaste for 39p, shaving foam for 49p and Men’s 2 in 1 Shower Gel Sport for 49p, to name a few, are perfect if you are travelling light.

I can honestly say I am impressed with the range. The colours and quality of the make up and the fantastic selection of minis is amazing, especially at such a budget friendly price. Summer just got so much brighter!

Beauty Box

I love a bit of a pamper and so when I heard about Birchbox, I, of course, was instantly won over by the wonderful name, not to mention the unique concept and so I had to sign up for a subscription. Every month a gorgeous box is delivered to the door, full of fab beauty products: some full size, some trial size. This month’s box, themed ‘for the dreamers…’, was no exception. From the super handy Olehenriksen cleansing cloths, bursting with vitamin C, to the Eyeko Black Magic mascara, there is lots of treats I can’t wait to try. The one that has me most excited this month however, is the Puriskin Resurfacing Cream. Designed to calm super-dry skin, blemishes and scarring, it sounds like the wonder product I have been waiting for!
